New Year? Let's do a Triathlon!

Happy New Year Everyone! Now I admit I have NO IDEA what to expect for 2013. I usually have a feeling at the beginning of the year. For 2012 I felt a bit unsure but interested. It turned out to be just that, ups and downs that balanced themselves out. This year's feeling is... I just don't know!

So I decided to start something. I did something absolutely insane and registered for a triathlon! It's a short triathlon and it's held in April near my home town. It will be a 1/2 mile swim in a man made lake, a 7.5 mile bike ride (I chose the recreational race because I don't care about division awards and just want to do something new) and a 5k trail run.

It's going to be an interesting 3 months of training. I'm excited! I'm SCARED! I'm going to do it. I am going to have to spend the first month getting myself fit enough to even do that much individually. I'm going to have to spend the rest of the time getting better and learning to put them all together.

Since I started running I always had that dream in the back of my mind
"Wouldn't it be awesome if I could do a triathlon one day?"
Well the time has come! I have a friend that did a triathlon about a year ago and while I congratulated him I mentioned my dream to him. As I kept mentioning how I didn't own a bike (at the time), how I wish I had access to a pool, how I had to get better at running first etc etc etc, he kept interrupting my whining and kept saying. "Start now. Do it. Just do it" Well I'm taking his advice. Just. Do. It.

Last night I talked to two other awesome people that have changed their lives and have started doing bike and running events and they also had the same mentality telling me, "You don't think you can do it because you've never done it before, but if you just go for it you'll see that you can." and "You're going to get hooked!"

All this talk has pumped me up and thankfully my excitement is taking over my fears right now. LOL

I'm not really sure where to start. I'm going to have to do a lot of homework and start this week.

Wish me luck and good luck to you in your new endeavors.

love
